WHO'S AFRAID OF SEEING GLOOMY?
Who's Afraid Of Seeing Gloomy? A collaboration between Livor Mortis Zine and Lawrence James Bailey.
This zine is a response to being told to cheer up or being questioned on why ones interests are supposedly “depressing”. Lawrence took images Livor Mortis Zines photos of cemeteries and derelict landscapes and edited them into mandala like collages, which dance around the page like a Busby Berkeley performances. The ironic result is suggestive of omnipresent spectres of gloom ready to engulf any unsuspecting cheerfully giddy person. Or maybe melancholy isn’t something to fear or hide from? Maybe it is an important sober emotion which makes people look deeper into the details of their surroundings and relationships?
